BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has claimed that the primary proponent of fascism resides in India, accusing the neighbouring nation of consistently engaging in propaganda against Bangladesh.
He urged citizens to remain cautious, warning that failure to do so could lead to severe national crises.
Speaking to journalists at his residence in Thakurgaon on Wednesday (13 November), Fakhrul expressed concerns over targeted efforts to undermine Bangladesh's achievements.
"The greatest threat looming over us is the fascist leader, who resides in India. Furthermore, India continues to spread various forms of propaganda against our nation. We must be vigilant," he stated.
He further emphasised the necessity of understanding the public’s demands, asserting that people presently desire a neutral election with participation from all parties.
"To ensure a fair election, necessary reforms must be enacted. Elections must be held within a reasonable timeframe, and the government must provide a clear electoral roadmap. The interim government should also give due attention to economic concerns," Fakhrul said.
Prior to the discussion, Fakhrul inaugurated the new building of the district BNP office.
Present at the event were district BNP General Secretary Mirza Faisal Amin, Vice President and veteran freedom fighter Abdul Karim, as well as other leaders and activists from affiliated organisations.
