On 8 April 1820, a Greek farmer unearthed the now-iconic marble statue known as the Venus de Milo on the Aegean island of Milos.

Believed to have been sculpted around 100 BC, the statue is thought to represent Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty.

Despite its missing arms, the sculpture became celebrated for its elegance and classical artistry.

It was soon acquired by French authorities and remains on display at the Louvre Museum in Paris as one of the most renowned works of ancient Greek art.
