The police have given directives to form cybercrime investigation cells at the district level to strengthen cyber patrolling activities.

Additional IGP (Crime and Operations) Atiqul Islam gave this directive at the monthly crime review meeting at the police headquarters on Sunday (24 March).

In the meeting, instructions were also given to take necessary steps to expedite trial proceedings in the absence of the accused.

The additional IGP said in the meeting that necessary steps should be taken to ensure preventive measures by identifying local juvenile criminals.

He instructed the field-level police officers to be vigilant so that youngsters do not get involved in crimes.

In the meeting, importance was laid on taking all kinds of legal measures for market monitoring and food stock control to prevent price hikes.

Besides, the meeting discussed in detail the overall crime situation for February, results of case investigation and trial, sentence rate and recent important events.
