Bangladesh railway online ticket selling draws huge response

Railway is selling advance tickets for intercity trains from March 14 for homegoing people on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr

On the sixth day of online ticket selling Bangladesh Railway (BR) sold 32,951 advance tickets till 2 pm today as online ticket selling drew a huge response from the homebound people, railway sources said.

Train goers bought the tickets using the designated apps and e-ticketing website for their journey on March 29.

Railway is selling advance tickets for intercity trains from March 14 for homegoing people on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr.

According to rail information, ticket selling for the trains of western zone began at 8 am and 14,405 intercity train tickets were sold from Dhaka while 18,546 advance tickets were sold from other parts of the country.
 
Railway source said total number of seats from Dhaka for March 29 is 33,199, while 175,630 for all trains for the same day.

Ticket for March 31, April 1 and 2 will be sold based on the sighting of the moon, a ministry source said.

It said advance intercity train tickets will be available for March 30 tomorrow (Thursday). All advance and return tickets for trains will be sold online. A passenger can purchase four tickets with one user number a maximum one time.

On the basis of passenger’s request, 25 percent of standing tickets will be available at the station counter.

The return advance train for the upcoming Eid will be issued from 8 am for both zones. According to the ministry decision, advance intercity train tickets for 3 April will be available on 24 March, for 4 April on 25 March, for 5 April on 26 March, for 6 April on 27 March, for 7 April on 28 March, for 8 April on 29 March and for 9 April on 30 March.

It said the weekly holiday for all intercity trains will remain suspended from 27 March. After the Eid-ul Fitr services of intercity trains will be as usual.
