Rail communication between Sylhet and the rest of the country resumed after eight and a half hours following the derailment of two bogies of the intercity Paharika train at Katalpur in Fenchuganj.
Sylhet Railway Station Manager Md Nurul Islam confirmed the matter on Thursday morning.
He said the derailment occurred around 7pm on Wednesday, causing significant disruption to train services. The incident led to the suspension of all train movements between Sylhet and other parts of the country for several hours.
Rail communication between Sylhet and the rest of the country resumed after the launch of the Chattogram-bound Udayan Express from Sylhet at 3:20am on Thursday.
After the resumption of railway services, trains stranded at different stations started their journey to their respective destinations one by one.
Manager Nurul Islam said the Udayan Express train was scheduled to start its journey to Chattogram at 10pm last night. Dhaka-bound Upaban Express train left Sylhet for Dhaka at 7am. It was scheduled to leave for Dhaka at 11:30pm last night.
The Kalni Express, originally scheduled for 6:15 am, also faced delays and departed at 8:45am.
