Tareq Md Ariful Islam, Bangladesh's Permanent Representative to Geneva, welcomed Dr. Yunus at Zurich Airport

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus arrived in Zurich on Tuesday at 5:25 pm Bangladesh time to attend the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) annual meeting in Davos.

Tareq Md Ariful Islam, Bangladesh's Permanent Representative to Geneva, welcomed Dr. Yunus at Zurich Airport.

Dr. Yunus embarked on a four-day official visit to Switzerland, departing from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 1:00 am on Tuesday aboard an Emirates Airlines flight.

During his visit, Dr. Yunus is expected to hold bilateral discussions with prominent global leaders, including German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, King Philippe of Belgium, and Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra.

He is also scheduled to meet with notable personalities such as Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum of the UAE, Christine Lagarde, President of the European Central Bank, Sir Nick Clegg, President of Global Affairs at Meta, Dr. Agnes Callamard, Secretary-General of Amnesty International, and Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization.

A special session focusing on Bangladesh will take place at the WEF, featuring global business leaders and chief executives from various international organisations.

Dr. Yunus is set to return to Dhaka on 25 January.
