International Crimes Tribunal has issued arrest warrants for 17 former police officials, including the former head of DMP's Detective Branch (DB) Chief Harun-or-Rashid, popularly known as "DB Harun", over allegations of involvement in mass killings during the student-led uprising in July and August.
The tribunal, chaired by Justice Md. Golam Mortuza Mozumdar and comprising a three-judge panel, issued the order on Sunday (27 October) following a petition by Chief Prosecutor Md Tazul Islam requested that the accused be brought before the tribunal.
It also issued summonses for 14 other individuals, including 10 former ministers, who are to be presented before the court on 18 November in relation to the alleged mass killings that took place amid the anti-discrimination student movement during the same period.
Earlier, on 17 October, the tribunal issued separate arrest warrants for Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, and 46 others over allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity connected to the July-August incidents.
The prosecution team has refrained from disclosing other names for investigative reasons.
