Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch (DB) has claimed Bogura Jubo Dal leader, Nure Alam Siddiqui Piton, received instructions from London to offer financial incentives for attacks on police and Chhatra League members.

According to DB, Piton was directed to pay Tk10,000 for attacking a police officer and Tk5,000 for attacking a Chhatra League member.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Additional Police Commissioner (Detective) Mohammad Harun Or Rashid said, "Following these instructions, Nure Alam Siddiqui's brother-in-law, Md Abdul Aziz alias Sultan, was assigned field duties. After Sultan's arrest, we uncovered sensational information."

DB reports that Abdul Aziz had been orchestrating a campaign of violence by integrating street children and the homeless into demonstrations for monetary compensation.

These individuals were used to carry out vandalism, arson, and looting across the country.

"In exchange for money, street children and the homeless were used to execute vandalism and arson at significant locations, including Uttara and Abdullahpur in the capital, and engage in horrific killings," Harun Or Rashid explained.

The police claim that the objective was to break the morale of law enforcement and destabilise the government.

Harun Or Rashid elaborated, "If the morale of the police can be broken, then the conspiracy of Jamaat-Shibir and BNP will succeed. This was evident in the 28 October attacks last year, where a police officer was beaten to death.”
