Interim government has appointed new chairmen to the Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Sylhet, and Jessore education boards, with a reshuffle of leadership within the Ministry of Education

Interim government has announced the appointment of new chairmen to the Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Sylhet, and Jessore Education Boards.

According to a notification signed by Mahbub Alam, deputy secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division at the Ministry of Education, which was issued on Saturday (4 January), the following new appointments have been made:

  • Professor ANM Mofakkharul Islam has been appointed as the chairman of the Rajshahi Education Board.
  • Professor Khondkar Kamal Hasan will take the helm of the Jashore Education Board.
  • Professor Mohammad Shamshul Islam is the new chairman of the Sylhet Education Board.
  • Professor Mohammad Shahidullah has been appointed chairman of the Mymensingh Education Board.

Prior to these appointments, the previous chairmen of these four education boards were removed from their positions on 1 January and reassigned as Officers on Special Duty (OSD).

The notification further specifies that the following officials from the BCS (General Education) cadre have been transferred to new positions, with the titles and locations listed alongside their names until further notice:

  • Professor Marzina Akter, chairman of the Jashore Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, has been moved to the Ministry of Secondary and Higher Education as an OSD.
  • Professor Mohammad Nizamul Karim, chairman of the Cumilla Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, is also reassigned as an OSD.
  • Professor Mohammad Abu Taher, chairman of the Mymensingh Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, has been similarly transferred to an OSD role.
  • Professor Mohammad Oliur Rahman, chairman of the Rajshahi Education Board, has also been moved to an OSD position.

The ministry’s notification states that these four officials from the education cadre must vacate their current posts by 7 January.

If they fail to do so by that date, they will be considered automatically released from their positions at 12pm on the same day.

The officials are required to log in to their personal PDAEs to complete the release and joining processes.
