Representatives of UNICEF, UNESCO, and UNFPA have expressed their belief in the practicality of the government's initiatives to reform the education sector and affirmed their willingness to assist in any way necessary.
They have also urged the government to update the National Education Policy 2010.
The representatives of the three organisations made these commitments during a meeting with Education and Planning Advisor to the Interim Government, Professor Wahiduddin Mahmud on Sunday, reads a press release.
A separate delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) also met with the Planning Adviser and pledged continued support for the interim government, the press release from the adviser's public relations officer stated.
The press release noted that Kristine Blokhus, the UNFPA Country Representative in Bangladesh and Interim UN Resident Coordinator, Sue Vize, UNESCO's Representative in Bangladesh, and Emma Brigham, UNICEF’s Deputy Representative in Bangladesh, were present at the meeting.
The Education Adviser said, "We are focusing on quality education and welcome all kinds of support from the United Nations and its specialised agencies."
