Inflation is expected to stabilise by April, with a more positive impact becoming evident by June, said Finance Adviser Salehuddin Ahmed.
Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday (4 February) at the Cabinet Division’s conference room following a meeting of the Government Procurement Advisory Council, he reassured that there would be no shortage of essential commodities, as supply remains sufficient.
He further stated that the revised budget in March would include a review of the Value Added Tax (VAT).
However, despite demands from fruit importers, the government will not withdraw the increased duty on fruit imports.
"If they wish to protest, they may do so—there is nothing to be done," he remarked.
