Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has assured that the voter list will be updated transparently to allay public doubts.

Speaking at an event held at the Election Commission headquarters in Agargaon, Dhaka, on Sunday (19 January) where the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) handed over laptops, scanners, and other equipment for the voter list update, the CEC emphasised the Commission's commitment to transparency.

Nasir Uddin stated that the Election Commission (EC) is progressing towards the upcoming elections in accordance with the government's schedule.

"The Election Commission does not wish to delve into any political statements. This year's voter list will be above dispute, and transparency will be maintained to dispel public suspicions," he asserted.

He further announced that the voter list update process will begin on Monday (20 January), with enumerators visiting households across the country.

The nationwide campaign will involve 65,000 workers and will continue until 3 February.

The registration process will include capturing photographs, iris scans, and fingerprints at various centres.

The UNDP, which has previously provided assistance in training, infrastructure development, and electoral materials, is extending its support once again to the EC for this initiative.
