Asserting the unwavering security of the nation’s borders, Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury declared, "As long as we live, no one can enter our borders."

He made this statement during the certificate distribution and closing ceremony of the 137th Survey and Settlement Training Course for the 2024-25 cohort of BCS cadre officials (administration, police, forest, and railway) and Bangladesh Judicial Service officers on Sunday (19 January).

Addressing minor issues arising from stricter enforcement compared to previous administrations, he expressed optimism about resolving these in the upcoming DG-level meeting in February.

The ongoing dispute over paddy and tree cutting at the Chapainawabganj border will also be settled through bilateral discussions, he added.

Commenting on the civil service, Jahangir Alam remarked, "A lack of fear of job loss leads to service apathy among civil servants. With proper discipline, political patronage within the cadre would not exist."

He highlighted corruption as the country's primary obstacle to progress, stating, "Without reducing corruption, advancing the nation is impossible. Since becoming Interior Adviser, my relatives have multiplied. If anyone attempts to gain favour using our name, hand them over to law enforcement."

Jahangir Alam also called for the publication of accurate information regarding any corruption and emphasised the importance of addressing employment for those injured during the July movement.
