Former law minister Anisul Huq has been sent to jail in a case lodged over rigging of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) polls in 2019.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shahin Reza passed the order as police produced Anusul before the court after end of his five-day remand and pleaded to keep him behind the bars in the case lodged with Shahbagh Police Station, reports BSS.
Anisul Huq was arrested from the Sadarghat area as he along with Salman F Rahman was trying to flee the capital through the waterways on 13 August.
Supreme Court lawyer ABM Ibrahim Khalil filed the case on 30 September for allegedly getting SCBA members attacked by police and Awami League cadres on 15 March 2019 and rigging the polls, using fake ballots.
