Anisul Huq, Salman F Rahman claim innocence before court, placed on further remand

Former law minister Anisul Huq, along with Salman F Rahman and others, pleaded their innocence before the court and sought justice, as they were remanded for five days in connection with two separate murder cases

Former law minister Anisul Huq and former prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s Adviser for Private Industry and Investment Salman F Rahman pleaded his innocence and sought justice from the court.

At around 7:00am, former prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s adviser for Private Industry and Investment Salman F Rahman, former law minister Anisul Huq, former MP Sadek Khan, and dismissed military officer Ziaul Ahsan were produced before Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nurul Huda Chowdhury’s court, where a 10-day remand was sought in connection with another murder case on Thursday (29 August).

During the remand hearing, Anisul Huq told the court, "Salman F Rahman and I supported the quota reform movement. I am innocent. I have no knowledge of the incident. I seek justice from the court."

Subsequently, the court ordered a five-day remand for Salman F Rahman and Anisul Huq in the case involving the murder of Sumon Sikdar in front of Fuji Tower in Badda, and a five-day remand for Sadek Khan and Ziaul Ahsan in connection with the murder of garment worker Rubel in Adabor.

Ziaul Ahsan has also been remanded.
