Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir has denied any involvement in the performance of Islamic songs at a puja mandap in Chattogram.
"False propaganda began circulating on social media on Thursday, 10 October, around 8 pm, alleging Shibir's involvement in the incident at the JM Sen Hall during a Hindu community festival," according to a press release signed by Salauddin Akash, Publicity Secretary of Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir's Metropolitan North unit.
The release further clarified that Shibir had no connection to the incident.
Fakhrul Islam, President of Shibir’s Chattogram Metropolitan North branch, along with Secretary Tanzir Hossain Jewel, strongly condemned the spread of what they called "deliberate misinformation," it also said.
