Dengue claims 3 more lives, 583 hospitalised in 24 hours

Three more people died from dengue in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths from the mosquito-borne disease to 199 this year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

During this period, 583 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals across the country. Of these, 130 were admitted to hospitals under Dhaka North City Corporation, while 116 were admitted under Dhaka South City Corporation.

Currently, 3,495 dengue patients are receiving treatment in various hospitals nationwide.

Since 1 January 2024, Bangladesh has reported a total of 40,405 dengue cases. Last year, the country experienced its deadliest dengue outbreak, with 1,705 deaths and 321,179 cases recorded.
