Saudi Arabia has announced that Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed on Sunday, 30 March 2025, after the Shawwal crescent was sighted earlier in the evening.

Eid-ul-Fitr, which falls on the first day of Shawwal, marks the end of Ramadan. Since Islamic months are either 29 or 30 days long, the sighting of the moon confirmed that Ramadan will conclude after 29 days this year.

Earlier, Saudi authorities had urged Muslims to look for the crescent moon on the 29th of Ramadan to determine the beginning of Shawwal.

The Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has declared a four-day holiday for the private and non-profit sectors, starting from Sunday, 30 March, to Wednesday, 2 April. Work will resume on Thursday, 3 April. With the regular Friday-Saturday weekend, employees in these sectors will enjoy a six-day break.
