Awami League presidium member and former minister Shajahan Khan has been sent to jail following the completion of his remand in the case of the murder of 14-year-old Motaleb.
On Sunday (8 September), Shajahan Khan, who fell ill during his seven-day remand, was presented before the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court of Dhaka after two days.
At the court, his lawyer, Shri Prannath, filed a bail petition on his behalf. However, Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider rejected the bail request and ordered Khan to be sent to prison.
Earlier, on 6 September, the court had granted a seven-day remand for Shajahan Khan in connection with the murder of the teenager, Motaleb.
Shri Prannath confirmed the details, stating that Khan has been diagnosed with five blockages in his heart, one of which is 90% blocked, and he has had stents inserted.
On 4 August, Abdul Motaleb, aged 14, joined a student-led movement in the Dhanmondi area of the capital. He later died from gunshot wounds to his chest and neck.
