Shirhan Sharif Tamal, the son of former Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif Dilu, has been apprehended by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) along with a cache of weapons and ammunition.
The arrest was confirmed by Lieutenant Colonel Muneem Ferdous, director of the Legal and Media Wing of RAB, on the morning of Friday (6 September).
Earlier, on the night of Thursday (5 September) RAB-12 detained him in the Ishwardi area of Pabna while he was in a vehicle.
This arrest follows accusations against Tamal in connection with an attack on students involved in an anti-discrimination movement. During the operation, RAB recovered a foreign pistol, a magazine, four rounds of ammunition, ten pieces of yaba tablets, and one private vehicle from his possession.
