A Chinese company, DC Industry (Bangladesh), is going to invest US$ 5.36 million to set up a “Bag & Wallet” manufacturing plant in BEPZA Economic Zone (BEPZA EZ) at Mirsharai, Chattogram.
This foreign owned company will produce 2.5 million pcs of handbags, 1.5 million pcs of backpacks and one million pcs of wallets annually, as 2,990 locals will get jobs in the factory, said a press release of Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) today.
The Chinese company inked a deal with BEPZA in this regard. BEPZA member (Investment Promotion) Md. Ashraful Kabir and Han Managing Director of DC Industry (Bangladesh) Company Limited Chenguang put pen on the agreement paper on behalf of their respective organizations at BEPZA Complex.
BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman was present. He said BEPZA always encourages investment in producing diversified products.
He thanked DC Industry (Bangladesh) for choosing BEPZA EZ as their investment destination for producing product of diverse nature.
A total of 31 companies, including DC Industry (Bangladesh), signed agreements to invest in the BEPZA EZ with a total proposed investment of US$ 711 million.
Among others, member (Finance) A N M Foyzul Haque, Executive Director (Admin) A.S.M. Zamshed Khondaker, Executive Director (Investment Promotion) Md. Tanvir Hossain, Executive Director (Enterprise Services) Md. Khorshid Alam and Executive Director (Public Relations) A.S.M Anwar Parvez along with representatives of the enterprise were present at the ceremony.
