The worst flood in recent memory has struck Feni, cutting off electricity to more than 350,000 people across the district.

Feni Sadar, Parshuram, Fulgazi, and Chhagalnaiya upazilas are the hardest hit, with power outages caused by heavy rainfall and the influx of floodwaters from upstream in India.

Floodwaters have severely damaged power lines, leading to a complete blackout in Parshuram, Fulgazi, and Chhagalnaiya upazilas since Monday night. Additionally, heavy rain has caused severe waterlogging in Feni town, prompting authorities to cut off electricity from midday to prevent further damage.

Local journalist Mohiuddin from Parshuram reported that homes are fully submerged, with intense currents hampering rescue operations. The lack of electricity and disrupted mobile network coverage has deepened the crisis, leaving residents stranded and without communication.

Hawlader Md. Fazlur Rahman, General Manager of Feni Palli Bidyut Samiti, confirmed that over 300,000 people are currently without power, with heavy rains causing widespread damage to power infrastructure.

Hossain Mahmud Shamim Farhad, Executive Engineer of the Feni Power Development Board, added that approximately 70% of their customers are without electricity.

Floodwaters have entered the ground floors of buildings in various parts of the town, damaging meters and necessitating a power shutdown until the water recedes.
