The Metrorail operations will not resume on Saturday (17 August) as the authorities could not complete the required technical tests.
On 11 August, the advisory council of the interim government took decision to operate Metrorail from 17 August.
However, on Thursday (15 August) night, Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd (DMTCL), the operating agency of Metrorail, in a press statement, said that they were unable to resume its operation as per scheduled date.
No fresh date for resuming operations was mentioned in the press release.
The Metrorail services were suspended on 18 July last amid demonstrations by students demanding quota reform in public services.
