Former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's son Sajeeb Wazed Joy has said it is disgraceful for the nation that people were blocked and beaten from paying their respects to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu on the day he and most of his family members were brutally murdered.

"My condolences to all those who were injured in the beatings, including Kader Siddique," he said in a message on his verified Facebook account Thursday night.

Joy thanked everyone who tried to go to Bangabandhu Museum at Dhanmondi 32 in Dhaka on the Mourning Day to pay their respect.

"I would like to thank the large crowds that came out to observe this black day throughout the country," he said.
