Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday (30 June) joined a post-budget dinner hosted by Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the city.
On her arrival at the venue, the Prime Minister was received by Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali. State Minister for Finance Waseqa Ayesha Khan was also present.
Later, the premier accompanied by the finance minister and state minister went round different tables and exchanged pleasantries with the guests.
Deputy Leader of the House, cabinet members, PM's advisers, state ministers, whips, parliament members and leaders of various political parties including Awami League, among others, attended the dinner.
PM's principal secretary, senior secretaries and secretaries of various ministries and departments as well as senior military and civil officers also participated in the dinner.
The Jatiya Sangsad today passed the Taka 7,97,000 crore national budget for FY25 with a prime focus on maintaining economic stability and augmenting steps to materialise the government's "Smart Bangladesh" vision.
Despite the global volatile conditions and adversities, the budget for the next fiscal eyed a 6.75 percent GDP growth while containing the inflation within 6.50 percent.
Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali moved the Appropriations Bill, 2024 today, seeking a budgetary allocation of Taka 12,41,752 crore which was passed by voice votes.
Earlier on Saturday, the parliament passed the Finance Bill, 2024 with some minor changes.
Finance Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali placed the budget in the National Parliament on June 6.
