On 18 April 1025, Bolesław I the Brave was crowned in Gniezno as the first King of Poland, just months before his death.
A formidable military leader and statesman, Bolesław had already expanded Polish influence through conquest and diplomacy.
His coronation, supported by the Pope, marked the formal recognition of Poland as a sovereign Christian kingdom, strengthening its position in medieval Europe and laying the foundations for a dynastic monarchy.
