Thousands of people are gathering at Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka to participate in the ‘March for Gaza’ rally, calling for an end to Israeli atrocities in Palestine.

Participants are arriving at the venue from several key points in the city, including Bangla Motor, Kakrail, Zero Point, Bakshibazar, and Nilkhet intersections, in processions. The rally is scheduled to officially begin at 3 pm, with Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Khatib Abdul Malek presiding over the event.

Several prominent political and social organisations, including the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, National Citizens’ Party, Jamaat-e-Islam, and Hefazat-e-Islam, are expected to join the programme. The rally will also feature prominent Islamic scholars, such as Mizanur Rahman Azhari and Sheikh Ahmadullah, chairman of the As-Sunnah Foundation.

To maintain law and order, members of the Bangladesh Army have been deployed in and around Suhrawardy Udyan and nearby roads.

Sheikh Fazlul Karim Maruf, the media coordinator for the movement, stated that a declaration expressing solidarity with Palestinians will be read in Bengali, English, and Arabic during the event. Participants will also take an oath to boycott products linked to Israeli interests.

The rally will conclude with a prayer session, marking the culmination of the programme aimed at showing support for the Palestinian cause.
