Train operations on the Dhaka-Mymensingh route resumed at 1:30pm on on Thursday (3 April), two hours after a fire disrupted services.
The blaze erupted around 11:30am in the power car of the Mohua Commuter train as it reached Sreepur’s Satkhamaier area.
Fire service units responded promptly, bringing the flames under control within 30 minutes.
No casualties were reported.
Mohammad Mamun, deputy assistant director of the fire service, stated that the fire likely originated due to an overheated generator.
The affected carriage was detached from the train to prevent further damage.
After the burnt coach was removed at around 12:45pm, train operations resumed.
Confirming the incident, Joydebpur Railway Station Master Khairul Islam said services were restored once the damaged carriage was cleared from the tracks.
