Police have arrested a 52-year-old man for allegedly raping his 10-year-old daughter in Chattogram city's Kotwali area.
The arrest took place yesterday night (9 March) in the Baluar Dighi Purbo Par area.
The 10-year-old victim has been admitted to the One Stop Crisis Centre of Chattogram Medical College hospital, said police.
Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Karim informed that they acted on information received through the national emergency service number 999. Police held the culprit after getting a call at the emergency helpline.
The victim had recorded a video of one of the assaults on her mobile phone, which police have seized.
According to OC Abdul Karim, the victim revealed during initial questioning that her mother is a working woman. The accused raped the child several times when she used to go out of the house for work.
The accused has reportedly confessed to the crime.
The victim's mother filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act at Kotwali police station.
