The High Court has directed that the trial for the rape of an eight-year-old child in Magura be concluded within 180 days.
The ruling was issued on Sunday (9 March) by the bench of Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Debashish Roy Chowdhury, who passed the suo motu order.
The Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal concerned has been tasked with ensuring the swift implementation of this order.
Additionally, earlier in the day, the same bench issued an order for the removal of all photographs of the victim from media platforms, including social media.
The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has been instructed to enforce this directive promptly, with a deadline set for 12pm today.
The victim remains in critical condition and is currently on ventilator support.
