Professor Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar, known as CR Abrar, was sworn in as a new member of the Advisory Council at Bangabhaban at 11 am on Wednesday (5 March).
The oath-taking ceremony was broadcast live on Bangladesh Television.
According to CA's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, CR Abrar will be given the charge of the eaducation ministry. Dr Wahiduddin Mahmud currently holds the position of education adviser.
Dr CR Abrar was a faculty member in the Department of International Relations at the University of Dhaka.
He studied at the University of Dhaka, the University of Sussex, and Griffith University in Australia.
His articles have been featured in volumes published by Westview Press, Blackwell, Earthscan, and Macmillan India.
