Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has vowed that heightened law enforcement activities will be evident tonight as part of efforts to improve the country’s law and order situation.
Speaking to reporters after a meeting of the core law-and-order committee held on Monday (24 February), Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said, "You will see law enforcers engaging in more activities from tonight. The work will commence from this evening onwards. You will notice the difference little by little."
The meeting comes amid growing public demands for the resignation of the Home Affairs Adviser following a spate of criminal incidents—including robbery, kidnapping, and rape—across the country.
Jahangir Alam claimed that the current law-and-order situation is satisfactory. He also acknowledged that there remains room for improvement.
He noted, "It used to take two days to know about an incident like yesterday's Banasree incident. Now people get to know about it immediately. That is why people think that the law-and-order situation has deteriorated significantly. Such small incidents have happened before, but steps are being taken to prevent them from recurring."
He further highlighted that Operation Devil Hunt has been launched to ensure swift action in response to any incidents.
