The death toll from the gas cylinder blast in Gazipur’s Kaliakair upazila went up to five, as two more burn victims died this morning while undergoing treatment at a Dhaka hospital.
The deceased were identified as Ariful Islam, 38, son of Abdul Razzak of Rajshahi’s Bagha upazila, and Mahidul Khan, 25, son Sabed Khan of Sirajganj’s Shahjadpur upazila.
Dr Partha Shankar Pal, resident physician at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, said the two men succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at the institute around 6:45 am.
Ariful sustained 70 percent burns while Mahidul suffered 95 percent burns, informed the physician.
They were RMG workers, and used to live with their families in the area.
Earlier on Saturday night, three-year-old Taieyba, daughter of Sajal of Mymensingh’s Fulbaria upazila, died while undergoing treatment at the Burn Institute. She had 80 percent burns.
Her seven-year-old brother Tawhid is also being treated at the hospital.

Last Friday morning, 45-year-old RMG worker Md Solaiman Mollah, a resident of Shahjadpur upazila in Sirajganj, died while receiving treatment at the Burn Institute with 95 percent burns.
At least 35 people, including women and children, sustained burn injuries after a gas cylinder exploded in Kaliakair on Wednesday evening.
One patient was admitted with 100 percent burns while three were hospitalised with 95 percent burns, and 16 were hospitalised with over 50 percent burns, according to sources at the hospital.
Locals said a fire broke out from a gas cylinder at a house in Telir Chala area of Mouchak in Kaliakair around 6 pm on Wednesday. When the residents of the house threw it out on the road, the explosion occurred.
