Two people, a child and an elderly man, were killed in a massive fire took place at the Rohingya camp in Ukhiya of Cox's Bazar.
Nearly 1,000 houses were burnt down in the fire occurred at the Lambashia 1-West camp’s D-Block around 1pm on Tuesday.
Md Arif Hossein, OC of Ukhiya Police Station, said four units of the Fire Service and Civil Defence brought the blaze under control after two hours of frantic efforts.
The identities of the victims could not be known immediately, he said.
The cause of the fire has yet to be known, the OC said, adding that the extent of the damage could not immediately be confirmed.
