A low-pressure system over the southeastern Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas is extending its influence to the northern Bay of Bengal.
In light of this, the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast the possibility of light to drizzling rain across Dhaka and four other divisions.
In its 72-hour weather bulletin issued on Monday night (9 December), the BMD detailed the current conditions and upcoming changes in the country’s weather patterns.
The bulletin indicates that over the next 24 hours, the country is expected to experience predominantly dry weather with temporarily partly cloudy skies. However, isolated areas in the divisions of Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, and Sylhet may witness light or drizzling rain.
Moreover, moderate to dense fog could form in certain areas nationwide from late night until morning. Night-time temperatures may rise slightly, while daytime temperatures could decline.
For Wednesday, the forecast suggests predominantly dry conditions with partly cloudy skies across the country.
From late night until dawn, moderate to dense fog is anticipated in parts of northern Bangladesh, while other regions may experience light to moderate fog. Night and daytime temperatures are likely to remain stable.
The extended forecast for the following five days predicts similar weather conditions, according to the meteorological office.
