The newly constituted Election Commission, led by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasiruddin, convened a significant meeting with the Election Reform Commission.
The discussions commenced at 3pm at the Election Commission headquarters in Agargaon, Dhaka on Wednesday (4 December).
According to sources within the Election Commission, this meeting was arranged at the request of the Election Reform Commission's chief.
AMM Nasiruddin, a retired secretary, was appointed as the Chief Election Commissioner by President Mohammed Sahabuddin on 21 November.
Alongside him, four others joined as election commissioners - former Additional Secretary Md Anwarul Islam Sarkar, former District and Sessions Judge Abdur Rahmanel Masud, former Joint Secretary Tahmida Ahmed, and retired Brigadier General Abul Fazal Md Sanaullah.
Election Reform Commission was established earlier this year, following the political upheaval in August, with Badiul Alam Majumdar serving as its head.
This body aims to address systemic reforms in Bangladesh's electoral processes, reflecting the demands for a transparent and credible electoral system.
