Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has urged Bangladeshi journalists to actively counter what he described as widespread propaganda and false narratives about Bangladesh being propagated by Indian media outlets.

Speaking on Monday (2 December) at 11:30am in Babunpur, Pirganj, Rangpur, after visiting the grave of martyr Abu Sayeed, the adviser stressed the role of Bangladesh’s media in presenting the truth.

He remarked, “Bangladeshi media knows the truth and presents it. I urge you to counter their lies with facts. If the truth is revealed, it will serve as a resounding rebuke to those spreading misinformation.”

Addressing ongoing legal cases, Jahangir Alam disclosed that three arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Abu Sayeed.

“We will commence hearings in this case as soon as possible. No one involved will be spared,” he asserted.

In response to allegations of false cases following the July Revolution, the adviser stated that a committee comprising the Deputy Commissioner, Superintendent of Police, and Legal Aid Officer will be formed to investigate these cases.

“Those found guilty will face legal action, while the innocent will undoubtedly be exonerated,” he assured.

When queried about a potential ban on ISKCON, the adviser commented, “I am not aware of any plans regarding such a ban. Should there be any, you will be informed.”

Discussing the performance of law enforcement, Jahangir Alam noted improvements in the country’s law and order situation compared to the past.

He urged patience and collective effort, stating, “Everyone must work together for the nation’s development. Some matters require time to resolve.”
