Bangladesh received US $2.2 billion in inward remittance in November through the official channel, which is 12.25 percent more year-on-year.
Bangladesh Bank's (BB) latest remittance update on Sunday revealed that on average the expatriates sent $7.33 crore remittance per day in November.
In November last year, the expatriates sent $1.93 billion in remittances. The remittances in the fiscal year 2022-23 were $1.60 billion.
Bangladesh received $11.137 billion in remittances so far in July-November of the current fiscal year 2024-2025.
According to the central bank, in November, $824.2 million in remittances came through state-owned banks, $145.8 million through a specialized bank, $1223.1 million through private banks, and $6.3 million through foreign banks.
Among the 42 private banks, Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC alone received $360.60 million in remittance, which is the highest for a single bank’s remittance earnings.
Brac Bank is in second position among the private commercial banks receiving $187.13 million in remittances.
In the current fiscal year FY 2024-25, expatriates sent as remittance $1.91 billion in July, $2.22 billion in August, and $2.40 billion in September, $2.39 billion in October.
