Police have lodged a case against approximately 8,000 students from various colleges, including Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College (DMRC) in Dhaka, accusing them of vandalism and stealing ammunition.

The case, filed by Sub-Inspector AKM Hasan Mahmudul Kabir of Sutrapur Police Station, was confirmed by Anupam Das, a sub-inspector in the station's general registration branch. The Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate, Md Ziadur Rahman, accepted the case on Monday and ordered a report submission by 24 December.

According to the case statement, on 24 November, thousands of students from institutions such as DMRC formed an unlawful assembly armed with deadly weapons. The students are also accused of assaulting police officers on duty, issuing threats, and inciting fear. Authorities estimate the financial damage from the incident at Tk 2,70,000.

Earlier in the day, at least 35 people were injured in clashes involving students from DMRC, Kabi Nazrul Government College, and Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College.
