The Ministry of Labour and Employment, in collaboration with the Finance Division, has sanctioned a joint loan to Beximco Limited to address recent labour unrest and clear workers' outstanding wages for October 2024.
In a notice issued today (November 19), Labour Ministry Secretary AHM Shafiquzzaman urged the workers to resume their duties immediately. He also instructed all factories of Beximco in the Ashulia-Chandra industrial area to ensure the normal continuation of production activities.
The unrest escalated when workers of Beximco Industrial Park blocked the Chandra-Nabinagar highway on 16 and 17 November, demanding payment of their salaries and arrears.
