There are no security threats or risks of sabotage surrounding the Victory Day celebrations, said Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Jahangir Alam. Chowdhury.
"Victory Day is not the property of any particular group but belongs to everyone," he said following a meeting on security arrangements for the upcoming Victory Day at the secretariat on Monday (18 November).
"16th of December marks our great Victory Day. Today’s meeting was convened to ensure the smooth and safe observance of the day and to prevent any untoward incidents," he added.
He affirmed that there would be no problems concerning law and order on the 16 of December, adding that traffic police will be on duty to mitigate congestion and assist those travelling to pay homage at the National Martyrs' Memorial.
The adviser also highlighted the importance of uniformity in displaying flags, noting that "in some places, different coloured flags are sometimes seen. Care will be taken to ensure this does not occur."
Additionally, significant locations will be adorned with decorative lighting, he added.
Reiterating the absence of security risks, he stated, "The 16 of December is for everyone. There are no security threats regarding Victory Day. The country's law and order situation remains stable."
