In observance of the BNP's Revolution and Solidarity Day, the appearance of BNP posters on gates across Dhaka University’s campus and its residential halls has sparked protests among the university’s residential students.

The demonstration began on Wednesday (6 November) night, at the gate of Bijoy Ekattor Hall, led by its resident students.

Soon, students from other halls joined the protest march, amplifying their demands across the campus.

Protesting students told the media, “We liberated ourselves from servitude by removing the Chhatra League from our halls on 17 July. That day, we secured a pledge from the hall provost to ban student politics within the hall. But now we see attempts to reintroduce politics into our halls. This poster campaign mars the beauty of our university environment and forces us to question if we are to re-enter a climate of fear.”

The students further expressed their concerns, stating, “We don’t want to see guest rooms or communal rooms used as tools for political oppression. We refuse to revert to the politics of student intimidation.”

The students chanted slogans such as “No place for subservience, not in Ekattor Hall,” “2024, subservience no more,” “No place for subservience, not on this campus,” and “Abu Sayeed Mugdha, the fight isn’t over,” underscoring their united stand against the presence of politically motivated activities on university grounds.
