Former minister of Housing and Public Works Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury has been arrested from the capital's Mirpur area on Thursday night (31 October).

A team of Detective Branch of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) made the arrest, said DB chief Additional Police Commissioner Rezaul Karim Mallick.

There are multiple murder cases against Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury, the former lawmaker for the Brahmanbaria-3 constituency.

He was produced before the court on Friday (1 November 1), seeking remand.

The court granted a 5-day remand for him.
