Unidentified miscreants set fire to the Jatiya Party central office in Dhaka's Bijoynagar area on Thursday evening.

Md Masud Alam, deputy commissioner of Ramna Zone of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), confirmed the development.

According to eyewitnesses, a group of individuals—many wearing helmets and armed with sticks—entering the JP office through the main entrance. Chanting slogans, they tore down banners and festoons, vandalized furniture, and then set fire to the building's front and several rooms inside.

Fire service and civil defence units were dispatched to extinguish the flames after receiving the report.

Mohammad Shahjahan, the duty officer at the fire service and civil defence headquarters control room, mentioned that they received a call around 7:40 pm, and two firefighting units were sent to the scene to bring the fire under control.
