Expressing full support for the interim government, Jatiya Party (JaPa) General Secretary Mujibul Haque Chunnu said that the interim government must hold elections within a logical timeframe after the necessary reforms are implemented.

He made these remarks during a press conference held at the Jatiya Party Chairman's office in Banani on Friday.

Chunnu said that the priority of the government should be to restore law and order in the country.

He urged the government to meet the demands of the police force and provide compensation to the families of leaders who lost their lives during recent movements.

The JaPa general secretary also stressed the importance of addressing economic challenges by enhancing remittance flows, prioritising export trade, increasing foreign investment, and providing maximum support to freelancers.

He further highlighted the need to swiftly reopen educational institutions and resolve inconsistencies in textbooks.

Chunnu advocated for changing the election system to proportional representation and reforming constitutional institutions like the Election Commission, Anti-Corruption Commission, and Public Service Commission to make them independent and free from influence.

Chunnu also called for the full separation of the judiciary and the enactment of laws to regulate the appointment of judges to the higher courts.

He suggested that no individual should serve as prime minister for more than two terms.
