Sarjis Alam, the central coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, emphasised the need to differentiate genuine leaders from opportunistic "fake coordinators" that have emerged post-5 August.

Addressed students in a discussion meeting at the Madaripur Municipality Conference Hall at noon on Friday (25 October), Sarjis criticised these figures, likening them to "chameleons," and remarked, “Many such imposters have emerged since 5 August. We must distinguish them from us. They have always had an opportunistic nature, which persists today and will likely continue. Without separating them, they will exploit the coordinator's name, tarnishing our image. This trend is visible across several districts in the country.”

He added, "No one could have imagined Sheikh Hasina would flee the country. Claiming absolute power was the last assertion left for her; everything else had already occurred. Her downfall, her flight from the nation—there could be no greater humiliation. She couldn’t even take her loyalists with her."

As the general secretary of the July Martyrs Memorial Foundation, Sarjis also addressed the ongoing threats facing the movement.

“The misdeeds of Sheikh Hasina’s government have been dismantled by the student and public uprising. However, opportunists are attempting to sow discord among students. For this reason, we must all stay united. Keep in mind that the 16-year-long structure prepared by them is barely disrupted. A few key figures have escaped, but they won’t take long to return. Students who are part of this movement must remain together; the consequences could otherwise be dire,” he added.

Sarjis further cautioned that any students considering a future path of fascism or abuse of power would face expulsion and potential legal action, reinforcing the movement's commitment to integrity and justice.
