Bangladesh Women's cricket team suffered a 21-run defeat to England despite restricting the mighty opponent to 118-7 in their second game of the T20 World Cup at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

The Tigresses, as it was adorably called, put a reckless batting show to be held back to 97-7 while chasing the moderate target.

Sobhana Mostary battled lonely to score 44 before being seventh batter out. As long as she was in the crease, Bangladesh looked to be in the game.

Captain Nigar Sultana Joty was the only other batter to reach double digits, making 15.

After deciding to bat first, England made a flying start with openers Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Maia Bouchier adding 48 runs in just seven fours.

Bangladesh bowlers then made regular inroads to bring them back into the contest with Fahima Khatun, Ritu Moni and Nahida Akter coming up with gem of bowling.

The trio were responsible for six English wickets, picking up two wickets each.

Danni Wyatt-Hodge made team-best 41 while Maia Bouchier scored 23.

Bangladesh beat Scotland by 16 in their first match.
