The first shipment of 12 metric tonnes of hilsa fish was exported to India via Benapole land port on Thursday, in anticipation of the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations.
Four trucks, operated by four different export-import companies, carried the consignment to India.
This export follows a special request from India for hilsa ahead of Durga Puja. In response, Bangladesh’s Ministry of Commerce granted permission to 49 companies to export a total of 2,420 metric tonnes of hilsa, under eight specified conditions.
