The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the squad for the first Test of the two-match home series against Zimbabwe, set to begin on 20 April at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. The second Test will be held in Chattogram from 28 April.
A key highlight of the squad announcement is the absence of fast bowler Taskin Ahmed, who has been ruled out due to injury.
BCB’s Senior Physician Dr Debashis Chowdhury confirmed that Taskin is undergoing rehabilitation for a left Achilles tendon issue and has not been deemed fit for the series.
In his place, 22-year-old Tanzim Hasan Sakib has received his maiden Test call-up. The right-arm pacer has previously played in 28 white-ball matches for Bangladesh but is yet to make his debut in Test cricket.
This series marks the beginning of a busy international schedule for Bangladesh, with matches lined up through early 2027.
