Law adviser Professor Asif Nazrul has said the interim government will maintain its neutrality during the elections.

“The interim government has no distance from any political party. The BNP's demand for a neutral government is a political statement. However, the interim government will remain sufficiently neutral during the elections,” he said during a press briefing at the Secretariat on Sunday.

Commenting on potential changes in the advisory council, he added, “There is no current indication of any changes, nor has the situation in the country warranted such. Changes may be made in the future if necessary.”

Earlier, in a Facebook post, Dr. Nazrul emphasised the importance of maintaining unity between the BNP and the leaders of the student movement for mass uprisings. He warned that any misunderstanding or distance between them could embolden and encourage members and allies of Awami League.”
